The Lord Mayor’s Appeal is supporting two causes that are close to my heart. The first is homelessness with Homewards, part of the Royal Foundation. As some of you will know, I have helped at homeless shelters and almshouses in East London for the last 20 years.

The second is mental health with the Appeal supporting MQ Mental Health Research. This is only UK charity to exclusively research in this area.

This will also be the 50th Anniversary of my first and last abseiling experience off a lowly cliff on the Dorset Coast. It will also be my birthday and I can think of no better way to start the day than this, 700 feet, abseil. Terrifying!
