James's MVGC Captains Charity 26/27 Bowra Foundation

James Thornton is raising money for Bowra Foundation
After a life-changing stroke ended his Special Forces career, Mark rebuilt his life with support from family, friends and charities. He founded BOWRA Foundation to empower people living with the effects of brain injury through practical support, challenge and community.

Story

After having a TIA (mini stroke) although I have no severe lasting effects, I saw first hand the struggle many have with rehabilitation following a stroke and how hard simple things we take for granted can be, such as having a glass of water or cutting up food.

The BOWRA foundation support people following stroke or brain injury with BOWRA bags which cost £100 per patient to be a little more independent as they navigate the world post brain injury.

They also give people opportunities to take part in assisted expeditions, sports days (including golf) and a community of people going through the same struggles.
