Jimmy's Running the London Marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On Sunday 27th April 2025, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK in memory of my late grandma, Georgina Hargreaves.
My grandma was a truly one-of-a-kind person with a unique outlook on life. She put her creative mind to perfect use with a long and successful career as an artist and illustrator, with her illustrated works ranging from Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree to Peter Pan and Black Beauty. However, in the final eight years of her life, we noticed something wasn’t quite right. Grandma became forgetful and frequently confused. Amongst other things, she was no longer able to draw because she would forget her subject before the piece was finished. This was, sadly, a battle with Alzheimer’s that would continue until she passed in September 2023.
Why Alzheimer’s Research UK?
- One in two people will be affected by dementia in their lifetime, either by developing it themselves or caring for someone with it.
- With enough funding and research, a cure for dementia is absolutely possible in our lifetimes.
- Alzheimer’s Research UK are the country’s leading dementia research charity, investing in over 1,000 projects since its formation in 1998.
