Story

Help Us Conquer the Welsh 3000s & Support a Vital Cause!

Hi there! I’m Iggy (yes, that’s what my mountain family calls me, amongst other things), and I’m gearing up for a big adventure — tackling the legendary Welsh 3000s challenge within 24 hours with the greatest bunch of misfits! For those who don’t know, this involves summiting 15 mountains in Snowdonia, Wales, over a total distance of around 26-30 miles, with an incredible elevation gain of approximately 10,000 feet, this will include the knife-edge ridge of Crib Goch along with the grade 1 scramble on Tryfan. It’s a serious feat, but I love a good challenge — especially when it’s for a cause close to my heart.

Why are we doing this?

We're raising funds for the Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders (AMEND). They do fantastic work supporting people affected by MEN (Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia), including my own family (Iggy) — we’re either living with MEN type 1 or are on the watch list for regular check-ups. The money raised will help fund vital research, awareness campaigns, and support services for individuals and families dealing with MEN.

What is MEN1?

Multiple endocrine neoplasia link type 1 (MEN1) is a rare genetic disorder link that mainly affects the endocrine glands link. Located in different parts of the body, these glands control the production of hormones that direct many body processes, including growth, digestion, and sexual function.

What will your donation help achieve?

Your generosity will contribute to:

Funding medical research to improve diagnosis and treatment

Supporting families like mine with resources, advice, and community

Raising awareness so others don’t have to face MEN alone

Ensuring ongoing education for healthcare professionals about MEN

🔋 Iggy – The Duracell Bunny of the Peaks

That’s me! Known to some as Iggy, known to most as the Duracell Bunny that never stops. Whether I’m racing up ridges, bounding through bogs, or laughing like a maniac mid-downpour, I don’t know when to quit (and probably should learn). The ADHD-powered pace may be chaotic, but the love for the mountains and for raising money through madness is real. If you see a blur in waterproofs bouncing off a boulder, it’s probably me. Or a sheep on Red Bull.

🎤 Wayne – The Ciggie-Singing Summit King

If you’ve ever been halfway up a mountain and heard the distant sound of karaoke, it was probably Wayne. Usually spotted in shades, cig in mouth, and spirits sky-high, Wayne’s the fundraising powerhouse of Wales. He’s constantly in the hills raising money and morale. If your legs are done and you need a second wind, just wait till he bursts into song—instant energy boost.

🐐 Rambo – Crib Goch’s Full-Time Resident

If Crib Goch had a postcode, Rambo’s post would be delivered there. He’s climbed it more times than you’ve had breakfast. Knows every gust of wind by name and every rock that’ll make you question your life choices. If you want to tackle the infamous ridge with someone who’ll make you laugh, cry, and probably take a summit selfie mid-scramble, Rambo’s your guy. Part guide, part goat, full-on legend.

🥾 Emz – Rab Warrior, Time-Bender

Don’t let the time fool you—finishing the Rab Mountain Goat challenge an hour after me is still a heroic feat. That route is savage, and Emz conquered it with sheer grit and determination (and probably a few motivational snacks). She’s tough, tenacious, and takes on every challenge like she’s got a point to prove—which she does. To all of us.

A quick note on safety:

The Welsh weather can be as unpredictable as my ability to resist a slice of cake. If the forecast looks grim on the day of the challenge—think thunderstorms, high winds, or snow—I'll defer to a safer date. Safety first, always!

How you can help:

Please consider supporting us in this adventure. Every penny makes a difference and brings us closer to a world where MEN is better understood and managed.

Thank you so much for your support — here’s to mountain peaks, good causes, and a bit of fun along the way!
