Story

PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.

I am proud to work as the PAPYRUS Area Manager for England North. I see the amazing work the charity delivers across the UK on a daily basis, which is why I have decided to raise funds for PAPYRUS while running the London Marathon 2024.

I was fortunate to secure a place at the 2024 London Marathon through a ballot at my running club, Ripon Runners. I have been running for nearly 8 years, and running a marathon before I turn 40 was on my bucket list, so it all seemed to come together just at the right time!

Although I'm excited to run the London Marathon, it also means I am facing my biggest running (and possibly also personal) challenge so far. Training is going well, and I'm looking forward to being on the starting line on Sunday, 21st April.

Sadly, Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK. Every year, over 1800 young people take their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247. My team also deliver life saving suicide prevention training and community engagement initiatives across the North of England.

Every £5 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
