Trauma Support for the Manchester Jewish Community after Heaton Park Shul Attack

Kate Lurie (JAMH Project Manager) is raising money for Jewish Action for Mental Health (JAMH)
“Trauma Support for the Manchester Jewish Community after the Heaton Park Shul attack”
JAMH provides quality care for mental health by offering counselling/therapy, signposting, wellbeing events and mental health training for the Greater Manchester Jewish community. Since 2020 we have helped over 700 people and over 35% of them are age 18 and under.

Story

I have been the Project Manager of Jewish Action for Mental Health (JAMH) since 2020 and co-founded the charity together with Dr Sandi Mann.

Within one day of the Heaton Park Yom Kippur attack, JAMH activated our Mass Trauma Response Protocol, developed with expert input following the events of October 7th, 2023.

Since then we have run:

*Drop-in support sessions

*Home visits for those most affected,

*Zoom workshops to help people cope

*We have produced a Parents’ Guide to help manage children’s reactions,

*Parent workshops in collaboration with Resilience Hubs in Israel.

We now urgently need your help to continue this vital work.

We need to establish a dedicated Jewish Trauma and Resilience Hub in Manchester, enabling us to provide trauma therapy and counselling, workshops, guidance, and educational events on an ongoing basis.

Your support is essential. Please, donate today and show the Jewish community of Manchester that we are not alone in our hour of need.
