Help us to raise funds to support the redevelopment of the Neonatal Unit at Rotherham Hospital, which cares for our youngest and most vulnerable patients.

Story

As a supporter of the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, I am excited to announce that I will be participating in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on May 11th, 2024. This personal walk will be a test of my physical and mental endurance as I take on an average of 50k steps in just one day. But this challenge is nothing compared to what premature babies and their families go through.

After spending a week in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Rotherham Hospital with our son, I was inspired to give back. That's why I'm fundraising for the Tiny Toes appeal, which aims to raise money for the redevelopment of the Neonatal Unit at Rotherham Hospital. The existing ward and its compassionate staff are highly praised by families, but the facilities require upgrading to ensure their excellent standard of care can continue for generations to come.

Premature babies are vulnerable and require round-the-clock support. The neonatal unit cares for babies born from just 27 weeks, providing care that focuses on allowing them to fully develop while monitoring issues usually associated with their breathing, feeding, and muscle development. Some babies spend just a few days on the unit while others may stay for several months.

The Tiny Toes appeal will raise funds to make the unit more homely for parents who often spend longer in hospital than at home. This includes an overhaul of family rooms with new soft furnishings, furniture, modern showers, and kitchen facilities. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of these families.

My fundraising target is £300. Every donation counts towards helping us reach our goal and supporting this amazing cause.
