Story

On Sunday 24th August, Jamie and I are taking on an 85km run from Old Trafford to Bramall Lane in memory of Darren – a loving husband, devoted dad, loyal friend, and much-loved member of the community.

Darren was full of life – a kind, generous, and witty man who loved a laugh and always brought people together. From managing junior football teams to playing in brass bands, he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

After a short battle with cancer, Darren was cared for by the incredible team at Ashgate Hospice, who provided comfort and compassion in his final days. They supported Darren’s family – Johanne, Jack and Jamie – allowing them to be by his side throughout. Blythe House also played an important role in supporting the family during this time.

To honour Darren’s memory and say thank you, we’re running 85km – more than two marathons – from Manchester to Sheffield, passing through places that meant so much to him, including football clubs, family homes, and band rooms.

We’ve both completed marathons and love to run, but this is our biggest challenge yet – both physically and mentally. With your support, we hope to raise vital funds for two amazing charities that gave so much to Darren and his family.

Thank you for any donations – every penny helps continue their vital work.

Forever in our hearts, Daz – this one’s for you. ❤️
