Story
In 2023, Jamie was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Thankfully, after treatment, he beat it and today is incredibly lucky to be well again, albeit with a few lasting side effects that serve as a reminder of the journey. (He was bald before the chemotherapy)
He didn’t go through it alone. Jamie was supported throughout by his amazing wife, his family, and a close group of friends. He was also supported by The Cancer Club a community that truly understands what it’s like to live through cancer. They provided inspiration, practical advice, friendship, dark humour, and a safe place to shout, laugh, or simply be understood by people in the same boat.
The Cancer Club exists to bring men with cancer together through shared experiences, sport, and community. It’s about escape, light relief, and reminding people that they are more than their diagnosis. It’s the club no one wants to join, but one that genuinely makes life better once you’re in it.
This fundraiser is our way of giving something back.
The run also coincides with milestone birthdays for Dems and Oz (Adam). The three of us are running together as we always have done as brothers. Doing something hard, together, for a cause that means a huge amount to all of us.
If you’re able to donate, you’ll be helping The Cancer Club continue to make a real, practical difference to people going through one of the toughest periods of their lives. Thank you so much for your support.
