Story
On 26th July, I'll be taking on a challenge that means a lot to me as I ride alongside Mel Robson and support her incredible journey from Ingleby Barwick to York and back — a 115-mile round trip.
Mel has a visual impairment and relies on a Seeing Dog to provide assistance and help maintain her independence. Last year, Mel completed this same challenge with Stockton Wheelers, raising money for The Seeing Dogs Alliance, and after the success and enjoyment of that ride, we're doing it again this year.
Mel will be riding on a tandem bicycle, piloted by fellow cycling club member Steve Newton, while I’ll be joining the ride in support of Mel and this fantastic cause.
What makes Mel's achievement even more inspiring is that she only started cycling around three years ago and would usually ride around 30 miles during regular Sunday club rides. Taking on a 115-mile ride is a huge personal challenge and shows an incredible amount of determination and commitment.
We're raising money for The Seeing Dogs Alliance, a small charity with minimal overheads that works hard to ensure funds are spent where they're needed most — helping provide more Seeing Dogs and changing lives through greater independence and support.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and is hugely appreciated. Even better, all money raised will be matched by Barclays Bank, which has registered The Seeing Dogs Alliance as a supported charity, meaning your generosity will go even further.
Please support us if you can and help The Seeing Dogs Alliance continue its amazing work.
Thank you so much for your support.
Jamie
