Jamie Climbs Kilimanjaro!

Climbing Kilimanjaro · 20 February 2024
Hi everyone I’m Jamie!
On February 22nd 2024 I will be beginning the 5,895 metres climb of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Kids Village.
Kids Village is a fantastic charity very close to my heart. They have planning permission to build the UK's first holiday village for children with critical illnesses and their families which will provide crucial respite from the trauma of extended hospital stays and ongoing medical treatment that these families endure.
I speak from experience having been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, at 16 years old. I can truly say how important Kids Village would have been during my treatment and I know how much of a difference it will make in the future to children like me. To find out more about this wonderful charity go to https://www.kidsvillage.org.uk/
Now to the challenge...climbing Kilimanjaro must be hard enough right, but during my treatment I had limb salvage surgery and had my left femur and knee joint removed and replaced with a titanium replacement (photo at the top!)
At the time I was told I would never run, jump or walk very far again. Not only is this challenge to raise money for an incredible charity; it is also to show people that anything is truly possible if you put your mind to it.
Any donation you can make will be gratefully received and will make a huge difference in these families' lives in the future.
You can hopefully (!) follow my progress whilst on the climb at https://instagram.com/jamieclimbskili?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==
Thankyou!
