Story
I’m running the London Marathon in support of The Fire Fighters Charity, in memory of Jen and Martyn—two incredible friends and colleagues who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty this year.
As a firefighter at Bicester Fire Station, I had the honour of working alongside them both. Jen brought an infectious energy every time she was at station —fearless, fiercely compassionate, and always the first to get stuck in or lift someone’s spirits. Martyn was calm, steady, and the kind of person you’d hope to have by your side on the toughest day. Both had an unshakable dedication to their crew, their community, and the job they loved.
They weren’t just exceptional firefighters—they were exceptional people. Always ready with a smile, always there when someone needed help, and always inspiring the rest of us to be better.
I know this will be tough, but with the support around me, I’m ready to take it on. Raising funds for The Fire Fighters Charity is a cause close to my heart. Their work supports thousands of fire and rescue personnel and their families, providing mental health services, physical rehabilitation, and vital community care.
