Heavy cardio initiative's fundraiser for UK Sepsis Trust

HCI Executive Jamie Grant is raising money for UK Sepsis Trust

Team: Mott MacDonald

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Jamie, Beth, Andy, Steve and Julie are delighted to be taking part in the "Step up to Sepsis" challenge in aid of the UK Sepsis Trust. This year there are have more than 60 teams participating!

Throughout September, to mark Sepsis Awareness month, we challenged Mott MacDonald colleagues to clock up as many steps as possible to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust. Every year in the UK alone, 245,000 people are affected by sepsis, and at least 48,000 people lose their lives to sepsis-related illnesses. The UK Sepsis Trust exists to fight this life-threatening condition and stop preventable deaths

This will be our third year participating in the challenge and we are determined to surpass last year's step count which equated to the steps taken to walk 2.12 times around the equator!

So please consider giving what you can. And importantly, familiarise yourselves with the symptoms of Sepsis located at the link below:
