Story
Eleven years ago, Jamie Peacocks dad, Darryl Peacock, died from lung cancer aged 58.
The night before, JP was told that his dad only had hours to live, yet he turned out for Leeds against Wigan and was by far, our best player. It was remarkable that he even found the strength to turn up and play never mind play in a way suited to the Superman Jersey we wore that night.
That was JP in a nutshell, a picture of strength and commitment. He always "turned up", he was always "prepared" and gave "everything" he had every time. Virtues inspired no doubt by his dad.
JP Invited me to run the London Marathon with him this year, to raise money for the Wheatfields Hospice where Darryl spent his last few days alive.
This is my oppertunity to "prepare", "turn up", and attempt a PB (<3:16) running in memory of Darryl; who was himself a fantastic servant of Rugby league and the inspired dad of a real life Super Man.
