Each day I go out walking to provide food and shelter for a feral cat met during the COVID lockdowns. This cat lives on an industrial estate, and when I first encountered her she was sleeping under a rotten pallet in the corner of a yard. I started leaving trays of food out for her, and gradually she learned to associate me being around with getting a decent meal.

Last summer I bought a nice outdoor cat den for her, stocked with hay and a comfy bed, and by the autumn she was sleeping in it full time. She's learned to trust me now, and although I can't get too close to her she will always come when I'm around because she knows a tasty meal is on the way.

I feel compelled to do all this because I want all cats to be comfortable and safe. Cats Protection also work towards this goal, and I hope you'll help me raise money for them so that they can continue their vital work. I'm recording all of my outdoor and gym walking during February for the Big Winter Roam and hope to cover a distance of at least 75 miles.
