Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My daughter Beth was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (a type of Bone Cancer) in October of last year.
On the day she was diagnosed, she recieved a Chemo Duck from the Give A Duck Foundation who she named Olivia. She had a central line- the type of port Beth would go on to have surgically inserted in her chest to administer her chemotherapy and was wearing a headscarf- an identical one was also given to Beth.
Since that day Olivia has become invaluable to Beth- allowing her to undertake procedures on Olivia so she understood what to expect before it then happened to her.
Before Beth had her NG tube inserted, she was shown how to insert one on Olivia and was able to use all the actual equipment, dressings and tapes before it happened to her.
Aside from the medical benefits, Olivia has become a chemo companion for Beth going with her to every appointment and treatment.
The Give a Duck Foundation also provided a Huggable Hope Duck- a sibling Duck for Alexander and various other materials to help him understand what was happening to Beth and what to expect for him too.
The lovely volunteers at Give A Duck Foundation also provide various outfits for the ducks allowing the kids to enjoy them and dress them up like any other doll.
Due to this I will be completing 100 holes in 1 day and hoping to raise as much funds as possible for the charity to allow them to continue providing ducks to kids at the start of their treatment to help their families as much as it has ours
