Story
Welcome to my fundraising page!
My name is Jamie Maguire. I am a 4th Year Aeronautical Engineering student in the University of Limerick, and in August 2026, I will be attempting to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to help raise money and fund vital work in the fight against Meningitis.
Meningitis is an infection that causes inflammation of the protective membranes around the brain and spinal cord, typically from a bacterial or viral infection. It is most common in babies, young children, teenagers, and young adults. Meningitis can often have life-changing repercussions, and it is estimated that 1 in 10 cases of bacterial Meningitis is fatal. The money raised on this page will help fund further research into Meningitis treatment and prevention.
When you donate through this page, your donation is sent to Meningitis Research Foundation. As part of the trip arrangements with our partner, Choose a Challenge, up to 50% of the fundraising target may go towards covering the trip costs. The remaining 50% - and anything raised above the target — will directly support Meningitis Research Foundation’s life-saving work.
Any support, whether through a donation of any size, sharing this page, or even just mentioning this to somebody else, would be massively appreciated!
Thank you for your time and support!
