Story

Hi, my name is Jamie, and this year I’ll be playing for the Barbarians in this years All Stars Charity Game, with the goal of raising money for Welsh Blood Bikes. A charity that holds a personal meaning for my family and friends.

Blood Bikes Wales transports blood, plasma, platelets, samples, vaccines, donor breast-milk & any other urgently required medical items to hospitals at night, weekends and bank holidays. This service is provided free of charge, allowing the NHS to divert funds where they are needed most.

In June 2022, a family friend Stuart suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his sleep. It was a devastating loss. Stuart had a huge love for driving and, from a young age, especially loved being on his motorbike. Not long before he sadly died, he had treated himself to a brand-new BMW motorcycle, something he was incredibly proud of.

One thing Stuart often talked about — and something he would have absolutely loved to do — was to volunteer for the Blood Bikes, helping to deliver blood, medical supplies, samples, and medication across the country to support those in need. That passion to help others has stayed with us.

Bikes have also been a big part of mine and my families/friends lives, with a number of friends and acquaintances who enjoy motorbikes, also volunteering for Blood Bikes Wales over the years, being able to enjoy their hobby while also doing something good for the community and people in need of these services.

Welsh Blood Bikes rely entirely on dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills, and vehicles to support hospitals and patients when it matters most.

Any donation, big or small, would mean so much to me and those who use the charity. Your support will help honour the volunteers who give so much of themselves, and ensure this vital service can continue helping others when they need it most.

Thank you so much for reading, donating, and sharing.
