Running a marathon has always been a challenge that I have wanted to complete, so here we are! After mentioning this several times to my partner Alex, he signed me up for the Manchester Marathon, which takes place on April 14th, making this challenge feel a lot more personal to me and fitting to complete in his honour.

Alex often spent his weekends outdoors, typically in the Lake District. Sadly, while on Scafell as part of the Bob Graham round, he took a fall and was fatally injured. It was the volunteers of Wasdale Mountain Rescue team that brought Alex home and for that they hold a special place in my heart.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue are a dedicated group formed entirely of volunteers who commit their time to saving others, not just on this day but 365 days a year. They rely mainly on donations from the public to fund their equipment, vehicle maintenance, fuel and much more. So, as a tribute to Alex, I have decided to raise funds for Wasdale Mountain Rescue.
