Story
Your £10 donation could fund a virtual wellbeing session for a patient living with heart failure.
A donation of £50 could pay for specialist counselling support for a patient and their family.
£100 could provide vital support to a patient in their own home from one of The Kirkwood Nurses.
The Kirkwood are here to support anyone affected by a life limiting illness, every step of the way. Right now, over 3,000 people in Kirklees are living with an illness from which they will not recover. Your support means we’re here for them.
In June I will be challenging myself to do something I might not be physically able to do. But knowing i am doing it in memory of someone else will push me to do it. On April 4th Paul Wild lost his battle with cancer. He was in the care of kirkwood hospice in his final weeks and the level of care he received was outstanding, to the point he requested everyone to do all we can to raise money for them. A quick backdrop on the kirkwood. It costs £9m a year to run and they get less than £2m funding. So the other £7m + is made up of charity work, fundraising and donations etc. i have done charity work for the kirkwood before and i can honestly say (after the pain eases) i feel so good for doing it. They offer end of life care and treat all sorts of terminally ill people in the kirklees area.
So heres the bit where i come in. I plan to do 300 miles on my push bike in the 30 days of June. Yes its only 10 mile a day. But add that to the fact i work 10 hours a day averaging 20000 steps a day… its still a pretty steady achievement especially as those of you that know me know I’d rather sink a few pints than ever exercise…. And my bike is shite! Lol. I would greatly appreciate any sponsorship or donations to the kirkwood as the work they do really is out of this world.
Please show your support for this as you never know when it might be you or 1 of your loved ones who need the help of the kirkwood!
Thanks in advance. Feel free to share this.
Thank you. 🙏
