Story

One Climb. One Mission. Honouring 9/11. Protecting Aviemore.

In 2017, I took on a deeply personal challenge: climbing the Strathspey Hotel stairs 13 times to match the 110 storeys ascended by 343 brave firefighters on 9/11. This was more than just a physical feat—it was a heartfelt tribute to their courage and sacrifice. Thanks to the incredible support from people like you, a defibrillator now stands ready at the Pine Martin Bar in Glenmore, serving as a beacon of hope and safety for our community.

This September marks the 25th anniversary of that tragic day. I am humbled and honoured to be one of the 343 UK firefighters chosen to climb the equivalent height of the Twin Towers—this time at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Each step I take is dedicated to those firefighters who gave their lives in service.

My journey is self-funded, but my mission continues with renewed purpose: I am raising £2,500 to provide another vital Lucky2Bhere defibrillator for The Old Bridge Inn in Aviemore. This isn’t just any pub; it’s home to a bunkhouse and serves as a base for watersports on the River Spey—a high-risk location where every second counts during an emergency. Currently, the nearest defibrillators are at the Cairngorm Hotel and High Range, but having one right here could truly mean the difference between life and death.

Please sponsor me today. The stairs are the easy part—but saving a life is the goal
