Story
Fibromyalgia is a recognised chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. A common illness with an est. prevalence of 2.9% - 4.7%. The pain tends to be felt as diffuse aching or burning, often described as head to toe. It may be worse at some times than at others and may also change location, usually becoming more severe in parts of the body that are used most. Add. symptoms often include: unrefreshing sleep, headaches, irritable bowel, cognitive disturbances, clumsiness, dizziness, allergies, sensitivity to environmental changes.
I am raising funds for this worthy charity. As some of you may know, my mum suffered with fibromyalgia for many years, sadly she is no longer with us. More recently my wife Lynne was diagnosed with Fibromyaligia about 2 years ago now. Our lives have been turned upside down. Lynne has gone from being fully able bodied to being wheelchair bound. She had the job she had worked so hard to acheive and took her uni degree for teaching and completed the 6 year course in 3 years. All of this while looking after 4 kids and holding down a full time job. Since getting diagnosed Lynne has had to quit the job she worked so hard for and that she deserved. Her life has gone from being able to do things for herself to not being too tired an unable to dress and wash herself some days. Lynne can go days without proper and regular sleep as she should be able too. She has regular flare ups and muscle spasms, suffers brain fog, touch sensitive and memory loss. To the point where she is regularly falling 2-3 times a day and more recently has now been declared wheelchair dependant. She cant enjoy life with the kids like she used too as she cant walk to school, cant watch theo play rugby due to not being able to stand or even walk to the local rugby field. She cant attend school meetings or parents evenings for the same reasons. It is horrible to see the person we love suffering in this way. We are however incredibly lucky that we have lynnes parents and brother to help her out alot taking her to appointments, shopping, looking after the dog and coming to take her out the house for a break. Let show that #FIBROISREAL.
Many Thanks for reading and any sponsors no matter how big or small. Every little helps.
