Story
Having a place to call home is a basic human need, yet for hundreds of thousands of people in the UK that need is not being met.
Homelessness is at its highest ever levels in the UK. And the rapid growth of homelessness and rough sleeping across the country shows very few signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Homeless people die almost 40 years younger than the rest of the country on average. In 2024 there were 1611 homeless deaths across the UK. Homelessness is not simply about having a roof over your head, it is a matter of life and death.
The Bridge have been fighting homelessness across the East Midlands for the last 30 years, supporting thousands homeless and vulnerably housed people and families each year.
Their work is life changing, and essential. As the cost of living keeps rising, and the housing crisis deepens, their work has never been more important.
So please support me in the Great North Swim, and in turn support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities!
