Story
Well I'm back! Doing another Ultra after a massive break, hoping I still have what it takes, after the last race left me rather broken.
This time I'm running for a new charity, and for a friend of mine that had to live through possibly the my biggest fear. As someone that has trained challenging and dangerous horses for over a decade and now climbs huge trees there isn't a lot that does scare me. But losing my mind, losing the ability to think as myself. That scares me.
My friend Siouxsie's husband Pete slowly lost his truly brilliant mind to this Cancer. He's personality changed and ultimately died from a horrendous brain tumour leaving her to raise her two children, alone. I have of course shortened this very long and sad story. The family are happy and healthy carrying on without Pete as best as they possibly can. But whilst this story is one that close to me, isn't the only one. So many people going through something like this. I know other people with similar stories, struggling with similar pain and supporting this charity is a little something we can do to help.
Brain Tumour Research is not only helping to prevent this cancer it's also working to help those living through the nightmare of living through this scary debilitating illness. So I hope you can help me raise a little money towards this positive cause.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK.
