Jamie's running the Edinburgh Marathon for Medical Aid for Palestinians

is raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians

Edinburgh Marathon 2026 · 24 May 2026 ·

Medical Aid for Palestinians works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.

Story

Everyone deserves to be safe, healthy and have the capacity to look towards the future with a sense of hope. This is actively being robbed from Palestinians across the globe; with unimaginable violence being inflicted, undoubtedly leaving scars both visible and hidden that will need generations of healing.

It can feel like an overwhelming situation, being faced with such inhumanity and not knowing how best to support from afar. Writing to your MP, going on marches or taking Direct Action are all worthy and necessary tasks. In some ways I am now choosing selfishly to run, which allows me to clear my mind and have a moment of calm in a sea of despair. I am so viscerally aware this is a luxury not afforded to so many.

Therefore I wanted to raise a small sum of money for Medical Aid for Palestinians to support the incredible and urgent work that they do. With their services designed and delivered by Palestinians, it seems like now more than ever that support is needed. If you can make a donation, you'll most importantly be helping people to receive crucial medical assistance while also helping to motivate me to keep going on a journey towards an unusual challenge.

I take inspiration from the resilience and determination of so many. One person who often comes to mind is Ahmed Alnaouq who lost 21 members of his family in an Israeli bombardment. He somehow manages to keep going, to calmly articulate the horrors that are occurring and devotes his life to telling the stories of those who have been killed, as well as those who manage to survive.

Thank you for reading. If you can donate that is much appreciated, but beyond that never let the suffering leave your heart.

With love and warmth,

Jamie.
