SKY DIVE - 22/8/2026 MIA & JAN VAUGHAN & GEORGIA THOMPSON fundraising for HAEMATOLOGY / ONCOLOGY UNIT GOOD HOPE HOSPITAL
For quite a few years now I have always had it in my mind that I’d like to do a parachute jump/sky dive. I think, since hearing my dad talk of doing it when he served in the army. To date I haven’t done anything about it. I did think about planning one to mark my 70th birthday last year, but didn’t pluck up the courage and thought (possibly an excuse) maybe I’m too old now.
However, recently my lovely granddaughter Mia told me she’d love to do a parachute jump, so together to mark her 21st birthday, we’re doing a Tandem Sky-dive to raise funds as a big thank you to the Haematology/Oncology Unit at Good Hope Hospital, where I have been attending for regular treatment for an ongoing blood condition JAK2 Positive Polycythaemia Vera for over 25 years and always will need to. Lots of the staff regularly take part in daring events to raise much needed funds, now it’s time for me to pay something back for all their wonderful care always given. Thank you to our always loving and very supportive family and friends for supporting us both in doing this.
Thank you Mia for giving me the courage! ❤️
THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL PLAN….
Then we received the Medical Information and Health Declarations and unfortunately and very disappointedly due to my medical history and ongoing blood disorder there is an unacceptable level of risk for me to continue.
However I’m happy to say MIA is still going ahead, thankfully along with her good friend GEORGIA (see photos in Gallery) So thank you so much Georgia for taking my place. Please support them in helping such a good cause.
Eternally Grateful ❤️
