Story
I'm taking on the Sprint London Triathlon and I am fundraising for Long Covid Kids.
Five years ago, our lives changed forever. My son began showing symptoms of Long COVID, and what started as an illness has slowly, painfully, become a disability. Today he is housebound, his world made smaller by a condition that is still not taken seriously enough by those who have the power to change that.
He is not alone. Thousands of children and young people across the UK are living in the shadows of this illness, missing their education, their friendships, their futures, while our government continues to cut the very disability benefits our community depends on to survive.
We are deeply grateful to Long Covid Kids for everything they do. They have been a lifeline for our family and for so many others. They show up for our children when so many others look away, tirelessly advocating for our children, raising awareness among MPs, and fighting to ensure that medical professionals are properly trained and that medical gaslighting of our children and families is brought to an end.
They are calling on our government to fund biomedical research into Long COVID and ME and ensure every child has access to education and proper support.
These are not privileges. They are rights.
I am running this triathlon because my son cannot run. I am showing up because he deserves to be seen. And I am asking you, if you can, to show up too.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps fund the fight for recognition, research, and support that our children so desperately need and deserve.
Please donate. Please share. Visibility is everything when the world is trying not to see.
Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart.
