Team: Team fundraising for TREK4CEYLON UK

Trek4ceylon Charity Ride · 10 February 2026

Trek4Ceylon is a UK registered charity and raises funds through cycling, marathons, trekking, walking and other activities to provide support to the medical infrastructure in Sri Lanka and other underprivileged communities across the world. In doing so, we hope to not only bring physical, emotional and mental healing, but also unity and peace. Trek4Ceylon is run by a group of volunteers who are keen to support the less fortunate. Nobody involved in Trek4Ceylon is paid and we strive to operate with integrity and transparency. Trek4Ceylon also has charity status in Auatralia, Canada and Sri Lanka.

Story

For those who know me, the gym has been my sanctuary for 10+ years. My philosophy has always been simple: lift heavy things and avoid cardio like the plague.

But for a cause this important, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and onto a bike. From February 10th–14th, I’ll be cycling 500km through Sri Lanka as part of the Trek4Ceylon charity ride.

St. Lukes Methodist Hospital was established in 1901 by the Methodist Mission in the Jaffna Peninsula, Sri Lanka. Today it is a barely functioning hospital. The hospital was known for the care it used to provide the community through in-patient care, outpatient care, maternity services and dental services.

Due to the protracted civil war and lack of facilities and personnel, the hospital ceased to be functional. Once the war ceased, the Puttur Methodist Mission was determined to keep this hospital open to serve the public. However, due to lack of funding they have been unable to renovate, equip and bring in the needed medical professionals to provide services. Today the hospital provides just 2 hours of consultation services provided by a retired medical officer on weekdays.

Trek4Ceylon through the T4C2026 ride will raise funds towards the renovation of the building that houses the outpatient department (OPD). Three consultancy rooms are to be set-up and equipped to support doctors. One of the doctors will be a paediatric specialist. Laboratory services and pharmacy services will also be offered to patients.

So I’m officially trading dumbbells for pedal power and willingly wearing full lycra. I'm ready to give it my all and challenge my mind, body and my poor rear end..
