Team EACH are taking on the Cambridge Half Marathon 2026

Story

Andrea and Jane will be taking part in the Cambridge Half Marathon on March 8th 2026, and we will be fundraising for the East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) for the incredible care and support they are providing Leo, and his parents Payton and Will.

Leo was born in February 2025 with an ultra-rare genetic condition called Menkes. Menkes is a genetic condition that affects how the body processes copper and occurs in approximately 1 in 350,000 births and almost exclusively in males. Children with Menkes often have a very short life expectancy and there is currently no long term effective treatment or cure.

EACH care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions, and our family-centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management nursing, short breaks, well-being activities, therapies, care at end of life, bereavement support, counselling and volunteer services in the home; all meeting the individual needs of the child, young person and whole family.

Only around 15% of their income comes from Government funding and so they rely heavily on fundraising such as this. A donation of £13 could pay one of their amazing Care Assistants for 1 hour, providing essential care to families.

All donations are welcome and very much appreciated as this will enable EACH to continue to provide the amazing resources and support that families like Leo, Payton and Will need.

Our joint fundraising goal is £500.00, and we thank you all for your generous donations in advance.
