For those of you that don’t know, my beautiful strong husband lost his fight with cancer on 4th June 2025 aged 51 years old, and by god he fought to the end. He was fortunate enough to get a bed in St. John’s Hospice in Balby, Doncaster. From the moment we arrived there together the feeling of calm and peace came over us. A far cry from the assessment ward at DRI. This environment was definitely the best place for Adam, who at that time needed end of life care. Not only was the facility well equipped for both Adam, myself and his family ……but the staff welcomed us with care, love and dignity for Adam. If we had not been lucky enough to get a bed at St. John’s I do fear our final couple of weeks together would have been very different. I was able to move in to the facility with Adam and be by his side right until the end. His family were able to come and go when they needed to, we even got to go into the grounds in Adams final days to have a little party ❤️

The staff at St. John’s are a different kind of nursing and care staff… nothing is to much. They didn’t just look after Adam, but looked after us all on our journey.

Now it’s time for me to fulfill another promise I made to Adam….. giving back to St. John’s…..

This is a predominantly charity funded facility believe it or not. Without this kind of fundraising… it wouldn’t survive. I never knew about St. John’s until I needed it.
