I'm baaaaaack!

February is Retinitis Pigmentosa awareness month and there’s no more logical way to celebrate than with a Valentine’s Day themed baking challenge.

This is my fourth year fundraising for Retina Australia, a cause close to my heart because as most of you know (given I've been prattling on about it for four years now) I've been diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa.

What that means is I struggle to see at night and in low-lighting, I have a narrow field of vision that will continue to get narrower over time. I've had to give up driving, I don't love being out at night, navigating a cinema is a chore, large crowds stress me out, I get irrationally annoyed at people who don't trim trees that hang over footpaths, I dread dropping things because I know it's going to take ages for me to locate it on the floor, I constantly have bruises on my arms and shins, I hate looking clumsy because I miss obvious obstacles, I hate looking rude because I don't always see handshakes and I hate that every restaurant and bar feels the need to have their lighting so low that I can't easily locate the bathrooms let alone my fork.

What I am grateful for is that my condition is progressing slowly but a lot of people with RP aren't as lucky.

So I'm raising funds to support the amazing research that is working towards finding treatments to slow or stop the progression of this condition.
