I am taking part in the FoodCycle Big Lunch and choosing to raise vital funds for the charity. I have created my JustGiving fundraising page, to ask you to help me make a real difference in the lives of people facing food poverty, loneliness and reducing food waste.

As a proud volunteer at the FoodCycle project in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, I witness firsthand the impact we can have. On a Saturday afternoon, a team of volunteers prepares a free, wholesome, vegetarian three-course meal for our guests. Everyone is treated with great respect and kindness. I love hearing the bubble of conversation and laughter as everyone is made welcome with a cuppa!

The concept of food poverty was first truly highlighted to me when I volunteered at a major distribution centre. The scale of the operation blew me away; this larger organisation received and distributed food surplus from major supermarkets and food manufacturers to grassroots charities. It opened my eyes to the pressing need for support in our communities.

This is why I have decided to host a Big Lunch in support of FoodCycle; I have a genuine passion for bringing people together. For me, volunteering is a two-way gift, and "every £10 raised could provide a warm meal and friendly conversation to someone."

Join me on June 29th, 2025, for "Ladies that Picnic" at All Saints Wardley from 1:00 pm onwards. Grab a friend, bring a plate, and have some fun with like-minded others! My target is to raise £250 for FoodCycle's Big Lunch project. Together, we can make an impact that resonates within our communities.
