Story
It has been 40 years since we first moved to Kenya! Since returning to the UK, we have been to multiple African countries, all of them with a common challenge: children in crisis.
Jane is a Trustee of Global Care International, a UK charity that supports national projects in 15 countries worldwide, 7 of which are on the African continent.
In 2025, Global Care's Partnerships in Africa impacted over 10,000 children with healthcare, education and for us, most importantly for this challenge, food.
What are we doing?
The Shack Supper Challenge: Eat only what is in emergency food parcels. We are going to do this for 2 weeks, 9th to 22nd May.
A 5 day parcel for 2 people - no caffeine, no dairy, no sugar!

However, the challenge is NOT about US
£28 will support 1 child fleeing from conflict in South Sudan for 3 months
£139 will feed 10 vulnerable children in Kenya for 1 month
£152 will feed 1 child at school in Uganda for 1 year
*Tamaya's family fled fighting in Sudan in May 2024 and crossed into South Sudan. They were found in mid 2025 by Global Care's partners, "They were suffering from acute hunger, and at high risk of disease."
Thurlith School, run by Global Care's partner, is in a desperately unstable part of South Sudan, affected by tribal conflict and thousands of refugees from the war in Sudan.
Thanks to Global Care and the team at Thurlith, Tamaya and her siblings now access food and medicine and have returned to school for the first time since their lives imploded.

Tamaya is on the left.
Thank you, in advance, for your gifts of money, prayers and encouraging messages. We will post updates as we go along!
