Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page and for considering a donation to Aggie’s. Last year I was lucky enough to win a coveted ballot place in the London Marathon 2024. I genuinely didn’t believe I would get a place and I confess I did feel very anxious about what I had signed up for as I was injured and not as young as I was!, but it was an opportunity that I really couldn’t turn down.
To make all the pain and suffering worthwhile I decided I needed to run for a charity and after much thought I chose Aggie’s. Aggie’s provides practical and pastoral support to Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel and their families. I first heard of them following the excellent support they gave to my son, Jack, whilst on his initial Navy training, which is a notoriously challenging roller coaster ride. Through their workers based at many Royal Navy bases they provide a listening ear and encouragement to be the best person they can be. To quote the CEO, who wrote to me recently, ‘Our workers have changed the outcome for serving personnel considering suicide, Royal Marines struggling with PTSD, spouses experiencing loneliness and commonwealth personnel struggling with their geographic separation from friends and family members’. Whilst we blissfully go about our lives, our military personnel put themselves in high-risk situations for the benefit of us all. Sometimes they may need a little support.
Any donation you can give will help make a big difference to the support Aggie’s are able to offer. Help me help them to help others. Thank you!
