Malala Fund is working for a world where all girls can learn and lead without fear. Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai founded Malala Fund in 2013 to champion every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education.

Story

Grains of Sand

I have watched with dismay as girls and young women in Afghanistan have been denied the human right to education, (the only country in the world that bans girls’ secondary education) and I have learnt that in many parts of the world, and by various means, education and participation in the workplace are either prohibited or discouraged. It was reading about the frustration and despair of millions of girls and contemplating the waste of their talents, potential and indeed usefulness, that led me to Malala Fund which champions “12 years of free, safe and quality education for all girls so they can learn and lead without fear”.

Grains of Sand emerged as the title of this one-day Art Sale and Auction to raise money in support of Girls’ Education through Malala Fund. It has been the guiding idea, reflecting the hope that the scales will tip - and will continue to tip - grain by grain by grain.
