My Story
In June 2020 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Bowel Cancer. The diagnosis was quickly revised to Stage 4 following scans that showed the cancer had metastised to my liver. Over the next few years I had a bowel resection, multiple procedures on my liver, and 24 cycles of chemotherapy hoping to get rid of the cancer. However, in June 2023, a scan showed the cancer was back on my liver, and this time it was inoperable. After discussions with my medical team we agreed that fortnightly chemotherapy combined with a targeted therapy was the best treatment approach working to keep the cancer under control.
Running has been a real lifesaver, keeping me both mentally and physically strong and fit enough to handle this treatment. When I received my ballot place for the 2025 London Marathon, I did not need to think twice about the charity that I wanted to support.
I’ve chosen to support Bowel Cancer UK as they are the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life for everyone affected by bowel cancer.
They support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
By donating today, we can help Bowel Cancer UK achieve their vision of a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.
