I consider myself an experienced hiker. Yet, we got quite lost at Kinder gates whilst navigating the marshes by the downfalls and we started getting extremely cold indeed. We used my satellite phone to send an SOS and huddled for about 4 hours in the blisteringly cold wind and pitch darkness for mountain rescue to arrive.

Kinder mountain rescue saved us and brought us back to safety and warmth. For that, I will be eternally grateful.
