Story
Hi, and thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jane Roberts.
In March 2025, my world changed overnight when I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. At first, I was told it was most likely an aggressive brain cancer. After further scans and specialist reviews, it became clear I have a single, low-grade glioma. While that was far better news than first feared, it is still inoperable and incurable. I count myself incredibly lucky that, for now, I'm living well with it, but I know there is currently no cure.
Like so many others diagnosed with a brain tumour, I was suddenly thrown into a world I knew nothing about. That's where The Brain Tumour Charity stepped in.
They have supported me and my family in countless ways—from counselling and children's services to family days and, perhaps most importantly, a helpline that has been a lifeline on the days when everything felt overwhelming. They have given us support, reassurance and hope when we've needed it most.
The week before my diagnosis, I completed Couch to 5K. Running a marathon wasn't even on my bucket list—in fact, I still don't particularly enjoy running! But after completing a half marathon dressed as a giant brain, I somehow found myself signing up for the 2027 London Marathon.
I'll once again be running all 26.2 miles dressed as a giant brain. It might look a little ridiculous, but if it gets people talking about brain tumours, encourages more donations and raises awareness of a disease that has been overlooked for far too long, then every blister will be worth it.
Every penny you donate will go to The Brain Tumour Charity through my Hope for Brains – Jane's Campaign, with the funds directed towards research. Research is what gives me hope. Better treatments—and one day a cure—will only come through continued investment.
Together we've already raised more than £25,000, which is something I'll never stop being grateful for. But there is still so much more to do.
If you're able to sponsor me, no matter how big or small the amount, thank you. Your support isn't just helping me get to the finish line—it's helping fund the research that could change the future for thousands of people living with brain tumours.
Thank you for believing in me, cheering me on and being part of this journey.
With love,
Jane 🧠❤️
