Dear Friends

I am doing the unthinkable and running the London Marathon next month. It was the last thing I thought I would be doing in my 60th year, but here I am contemplating my next long run and planning when to take my gels. A far cry from lounging on the sofa binging on the latest tv show with a glass of wine! It is one of the most difficult sporting challenges I have ever done and has pushed the boundaries both physically and mentally. However, I am not doing this for me. I have been given the privilege to raise money for the Inner South West London Samaritans based in Putney.

A few facts for you to digest:

- approximately 7000 people in the UK die every year from suicide.

-suicide is the leading cause of death in the under 35's

-the most at risk group is males aged 45-55

-Samaritans provide confidential support for anyone in distress

-our branch in Putney (Inner South West London) had over 24,000 contacts last year

-The free call confidential service 116123 is available 24/7 365 days a year.

Please help me raise money for this amazing charity that helps so many people when they feel they have nowhere to turn.
