In late 2024 Alastair was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. It followed years of, frankly, hell, when Alastair was so profoundly depressed he wanted it all to end. There followed a period of 17 weeks in hospital when an incredible young doctor said he thought Alastair had Parkinson's and that was why no treatment was working. But we had been told by a neuro consultant that he didn't have Parkinsons, that it was all psychiatric.

Well, that consultant was wrong. Many PD patients take years to get a proper diagnosis and currently there is no cure. Parkinson's UK is working to change that and as a family (Laura, Feargus, Heather, Robert and 4 grandchildren) we are committed to helping them.
