Story

As it was my 10th marathon and marks 7th this year it was supposed to be our last .... but, the Friday of marathon weekend my best friend Leigh Lawson was admitted to Sue Ryder, this floored me . Leigh battled a 5 year war with the big C , never did she ever feel sorry for herself , never did she ever ask why me , Leigh only cared about others , she was one in a million , a warrior and a very special person to know , she bestowed love on everyone she met , especially her beloved 14 year old triplets and her devoted husband Simon whom she adored . I FaceTimed her during the marathon this year and spent most of it sobbing knowing what the end game was .... I promised mark and my family I would never do it again , I made mark promise not to let me agree to it again , but , Sue Ryder made Leigh feel safe , they enabled Simon to be her husband and not her carer, they made the girls visits enjoyable and most of all made Leigh comfortable and not frightened and pain free.

Leigh passed away peacefully in sue Ryder not long after the marathon . She has left us all broken but we can carry on her legacy and support the wonderful hospice that cares for so many , but especially for the wonderful woman I was lucky enough to have in my life and call my friend . God bless you leigh ❤️💔

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with Sue Ryder's support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. They are there when it matters.
