Story
Hi all, so this evening I wanted to share some exciting news!!! I will be running in the Royal Parks half marathon on the 12th October 2025 for Evelina charity!!! Yes, you heard it right.... Janeen.... the non runner who prior to last summer hadn't run since I was about 12 (and that was for a bus) is going to attempt this!!!
As many will know the Evelina hospital will always be in our hearts as it was this wonderful hospital who cared for my nephew Isaac and our family. For those who don't know, Isaac was born on the 27th July 2012 at a different hospital but following serious complications he was transferred to Evelina who specialises in brain care injury the day he was born. For the next 6 days all our family were at Evelina with him and supporting my sister and my brother in law. The Evelina did everything possible for him including new brain cooling treatment but unfortunately he passed on the 1st August 2012. During his time at Evelina they showed an outstanding level of care to both Isaac, my sister and brother in law, and to the rest of the family. Their level of compassion and kindness went above and beyond. 2 years later my neice was also born there as were my twins in 2018, again outstanding care shown. So my challenge is to raise money for this incredible hospital by running this half marathon!
I'm not going to lie I'm pretty petrified, having only started running in May 2024, but in building up to this, on longer runs it is Isaac who takes me through them! I think about how as soon as I saw him I fell in love, I think about how proud I am of him, how he battled so we could spend 6 days with him, I think about the level of bravery that must of taken. Over the years his spirit has driven me to take on stuff I never thought I'd be capable of and I'm hoping he will be with me while running!!! Isaac may only of been with us for a short time but his legacy is ongoing!
So please, please donate if you can!!! This is such a good cause and they do so much for children and their families, any amount however small would be greatly appreciated!!!
