Story
We are a team of seven from Jane James and Associates, who have agreed to undertake a slightly bonkers challenge to raise much-needed funds for Julia’s House Children's Hospices (Wiltshire and Dorset).
Julia’s House Children’s Hospice is a charity close to Jane James and Associates and especially to our Director of Operations Luci Lloyd’s heart.
As a paediatric nurse who has cared for children with complex neurological and life-limiting conditions, Luci has first-hand experience of the difference a charity like Julia’s House makes to those children and their families. She also understands the challenges these charities face with financial and other types of support.
That’s why Luci jumped at the chance when Julia’s House CEO Martin Edwards approached her to join him in his 20/20 challenge (twenty individual fundraising challenges in 2025 to celebrate his twentieth year with the charity).
The 20/20 idea was hatched by Julia’s House Young Ambassador Diana Lawrence (now in her mid-20s). Martin ran with it and approached twenty of their business supporters to help him, one challenge at a time, celebrate his work milestone, raise vital funds and have fun(!) while doing it.
Each individual or team has been tasked with raising a minimum of £5,000.00.
Julia's House Children’s Hospices provides clinical, practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition: providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community and at their hospices.
Sadly, the charity receives just 8% of government funding! A whopping 92% of their funding comes from donations from the local community and the support of local businesses and Julia’s House Business Club members.
As proud Julia’s House Business Club members, we are always happy to show our commitment and support for the charity and are definitely up for the task.
That’s why we’ve agreed to abseil down the 170-metre (560 ft) Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to raise money for Julia’s House.
And this is where you come in…
It’s your opportunity to donate as much as you can to help Julia’s House continue providing clinical, practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community and at their hospices.
And in doing so, you’ll help to spur on the ‘JJ&A Seven’ as they step off the top of the Spinnaker Tower!
Please donate what you can to this incredible charity. All contributions, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
The JJ&A Seven
“Julia’s House Children’s Hospice is a charity close to our hearts which is why we are proud Business Club members.
We gain so much from supporting Julia’s House and showing our commitment to this wonderful charity and our wider local community.
We thoroughly recommend becoming a Julia’s House Business Club member. Especially if you are a Dorset or Wiltshire business looking to make a difference in your community, and meet your corporate and social responsibility obligations.”
