WING-WALK fundraiser for Hope House & Ty Gobaith in FANCY DRESS (Leopard Lady!)

Janet Burton is raising money for Hope House & Ty Gobaith

Team: Hope House & Ty Gobaith Wing - Walkers 23rd July

Hope House and Ty Gobaith gives every local child with a life-threatening condition and their family access to professional care and improves their quality of life from the point of diagnosis.

Story

On 23 July 2026, I will join the Hope House Wing Walkers Team and will take to the skies, defying gravity and stepping out onto the wings of a plane to raise vital funds for Hope House.

Doing a wing walk is a scary thought and raising the money we would like to raise is going to be hard work! But... every donation will help the incredible care team continue supporting children and their families at their darkest and most challenging moments, offering comfort, compassion, and strength when it’s needed most.

Here is my diary (in words and pictures) of fundraising events...

19th April

Back at Charlie's today, selling raffle tickets.

As usual, Steve and Michelle smashed it! Lovely Josh came along to help too.

Sold raffle tickets to this guy who is also doing a wing walk! He's doing his in August to raise money for a cancer charity.

18th April

60s 70s Event at Morda, Oswestry. 60s 70s NIGHT

£339.28 made for HOPE HOUSE!

As a veteran WI member this just had to be done!

10th April

QUIZ at Caersws Village Club tonight!

£107.50 raised for Hope House!

I'm so grateful to Howard for arranging and devising the quiz and also to Steve for taking on the role of Quiz Master.

Congratulations to the winning team 'The Sws Queens' who just beat their nearest rivals by one point! The Club very kindly donated the raffle prize... a wonderful basket of goodies! Although only 15 people took part in the quiz it was a really successful evening nonetheless.

4th April

A huge thank you to the staff and customers at Coed y Dinas (Charlies) in Welshpool today! Met some lovely people and sold lots of raffle tickets. It was a long, exhausting day, but we did have fun.

Steve and Michelle did all the real work, whilst I just paraded round in my leopard costume talking and answering questions about the wing walk.

28th March

Wow! A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Tony Hughes Hope House fundraiser event at the COWSHACC last night.

Here I am with the super talented singer and one man band,

And an extra special THANK YOU to Steve (my jive teacher) and Howard (our DJ) who made it all possible!

When we totted up a wonderful £235 was raised leaving us just 50p short of the £2,000 target!

Quick as a flash Josh appears with the shortfall! Thank you Josh!

Great to see lots of dancing... boogie, jive and even some line dancing! A successful and fun event.

13th March

£206 raised this evening at an Arrive & Jive event put on in Llanfyllin at the Public Institute. It was a "just come along and have a go" event!

I was a bit worried at first as the evening started very slowly, but gradually more and more people turned up and eventually the somewhat small room was full and there was only just enough room to dance! Thankfully it turned out to be a successful and really fun event, with, most importantly, a tidy some of money raised for Hope House. Huge thanks to Steve and all his Arrive and Jivers!

4th March

£253 raised this evening.

An evening of ghost stories and the paranormal presented by Rory Evans! Rory is well-known in Newtown and surrounding areas for his ghost walks and talks and he certainly didn't disappoint this evening. Definitely an event with a difference.

15th February

£210 raised at an ARRIVE & JIVE Sunday Social Event today, thanks to all the jivers and their teacher, Steve. Brilliant. Everyone was so generous and we really enjoyed ourselves too!

14th February

I'm buzzing! Last night at our Valentine's Day Quiz Night we raised just short of £560! A massive thank you to Sean and the team at THE CAIN VALLEY HOTEL, in Llanfyllin! They did an amazing job with the Valentine themed decorations and an excellent quiz. A big thank you too to everyone who went along to support, you really made the whole event a fun and enjoyable evening!

19th January

I had a very inspiring and somewhat emotional visit to Hope House this morning. Thank you so much, Dawn and Harriet, for showing me round and explaining the wonderful work done by this absolutely amazing charity. I can't begin to convey my admiration for all that Hope House does and feel proud to have the opportunity of joining their fund-raising Wing Walk Team.

Every donation will help the incredible care team continue supporting families at their darkest and most challenging moments, offering comfort, compassion, and strength when it’s needed most.

Please support me and the other amazing daredevils as we face our fears to make a real difference. Every pound helps, and every donation truly matters. ✈️💙
