Ione and Janet are doing Barts Hike for Health 2026 on Sunday 13 September to support Barts Charity.

Ione had open heart surgery at St Barts last October, from which she has made a full recovery. The staff could not have been better. They were super-professional and endlessly kind, looking after all Ione's needs. Now Ione is restored to health and we both want to give back to those who saved her life.

Barts Charity goes above and beyond for families across London - funding pioneering research, supporting NHS staff, and helping to improve wards across the five hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust with state-of-the-art equipment.

But it’s not just about the big things. They also fund the small, thoughtful touches that make a real difference - like phone charging stations in A&E or tote bags for families after a bereavement. Because in life’s toughest moments, the little things truly matter.
