I'm happy to report that Ruth and I completed the shortened Hardmoors 15 on January 3rd. It was shortened because of the weather conditions, but we still walked 17.3 km through thick snow with blizzards and strong winds in places. The route took us as far as Ravenscar and back to Robin Hood’s Bay along the old railway Cinder Track. We were relieved not to return on the cliff top Cleveland Way in the prevailing conditions. This was the fourth time we have undertaken this challenge together. Each year the challenge has been different - rain, mud and wind, lying snow, ice and wind and this year, falling snow and wind! And each year, to my surprise, I've been awarded the trophy for the first female finisher aged over 70.
