Dear Friends
I am doing something which I find very difficult - fundraising! Please feel free to stop reading this now...
As you may know, I've been to Uganda four times in the past to work with a college called the Nile Vocational Institute in Jinja, the second largest city after the capital, Kampala. I have done all kinds of work there including decorating, supporting and sponsoring students and working with the Director of the Institute to improve things for the students and staff at the college. I am lucky enough to be going again in February 2025 and one of my tasks before I go is to try to raise some money/support so that the team with which I am going can work on various projects there.
The charity Ugandaid with which I am working sponsors students to attend the college and selects the poorest and most needy young people whose lives and the lives of their families are transformed by the education they receive.
One of the main projects we will be working on is the refurbishment of the college library (a subject after my own heart) and we also give our sponsored students a bag of items which they will need when they arrive: toothpaste, toothbrush, underwear, soap, notebooks, pens, pencils etc. We will also respond to need while we are out there such as providing a sack of rice to feed street children or support a young mother to buy medication for a sick child.
Of course the costs of going to Uganda and everything spent there is covered by the individual members of the team. Money which is fund-raised goes exclusively on the young people we are there to support.
If you feel you can help at all, please visit my Just Giving page.
Thank you so much in advance for any support you can give.
