Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I lost my beloved husband Ben to Young Onset Alzheimer’s in 2019 and my friend Alison lost her dear dad Fred this year to Alzheimer’s. We are raising money for Dementia UK whose local Admiral Nurse and Team in Medway helped Ben, me and our two young teenagers throughout Ben’s journey. Together with two good friends Alison and Claire, and my brother Alan, in November 2025 we will be joining a cycling challenge from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Siem Reap in Cambodia. A total of 450km at between 90km and 52km each day, raising money for Dementia UK as we pedal. We started training earlier this year which I have not found easy and have lots more to do! In June we cycled three consecutive days one very hot weekend, covering 190km which gave us an idea of what we could achieve with more training. We would be very grateful for any donation you are able to give to help Dementia UK in their work so that they can continue to help other families like they helped us.

Thank you in advance for your kindness.
