Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
How can I give back? ........ I can swim!
It was a Friday morning just like any other, except I found a lump while in the shower.
I was diagnosed with Hormone Positive Breast Cancer on my right breast in 2018 and Triple Negative Cancer on my left breast in 2021. After an initial lumpectomy on my left breast, I was diagnosed with a recurrence of Triple Negative Cancer in 2022.
After almost five years of treatments and surgeries including two mastectomies, over 30 rounds of chemotheraphy and 50 rounds of radiotherapy, I am grateful to say that I have well beaten the odds of survival.
I firmly believe I owe my life to the research and development in treatments without which I would not be here today!
Swimming has always been a part of my life. I can swim, though not very well!
As part of my recovery program, I decided to get back into the pool and give it another go. It was during one of my early morning swims I had an idea, why not do a fundraiser to help give something back?
With the support of my family, friends and the managment of Westwood Sports Centre, Westmonstown, I will swim 3 kilometers (120 lengths) but I will give my all to reach a goal of 5 kilometers .... (200 lengths) on Good Friday, 18th April this year.
Research save lives—it saved mine. So many people are affected both directly or indirectly by Cancer, lets beat the odds and get the job done!
