Story
My Husband David Woods was cared for by the Hospice of the Good Shepherd for over 2 years. He received exceptional care and support from the Living Well Centre, the Palliative Care and Therapy Services, counselling and social work support. Music Therapy and complimentary therapies were so beneficial to David. A visit to the hospice always came with a warm feeling of love and support for David and myself. I was also supported amazingly by the Carer service. The Hospice also provide wonderful support for carers.
This September a group of Davids friends and family are signing up to the Twilight Walk to raise money for the hospice. We want to give something back and to support the hospice to continue with its incredible work. David had Motor Neurone Disease and needed specialist care as his disease progressed.
The Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides its services free of charge to its patients and costs £5.7 million to run each year with just 17% of the funding received coming from statutory sources. The remaining 83% is raised from a range of fundraising events such as Chester Sparkle walk, the support of the generous local community in Cheshire.
